Halloween

Not really an Ausse tradition is it?
But the kids are going to their Nan's Halloween Party on the wasbands side of the family so I thought it might be a fun opportunity to create some halloween stuff for them to use or wear.
I'm thinking this slit throat choker would look fabulous on Miss E.
This ghost necklace for Miss S.
oh I love this witches hat! How kewl!
oh and Mst S would think this spider is the best!

Hmmmmm, maybe I should have a halloween party next year?

Chook house additions

We put the chook net up today. No chookies flying our and no minor birds flying in and stealing the food! The girl's were very curious about what we were up too and came out to peck and scratch around our feet whilst we worked.
The door needed a bit of strengthening and we added a handle to open and close the top door easier.
We had to cut the net to fit around the Macadamia tree then just cabled tied it together. The net's attached to the fence on bits of timber with hooks screwed in to hook the net onto. I think the orange tree in the foreground will have to come out eventually, it's not going to fruit there while I keep chopping it down to stay under the net.

Master s and a request

Master S Asked me if I could make him a bag to store his marbles.
I had some 8 ply army variegated acrylic, so I found a pattern and gave it a go.

It's a bit bigger than he needs, but he LOVED it, the grin on his face was the best thank you I could have gotten. There is something really special about making things for your own children.

Father's day

Father's day is coming up and the kids always buy things for their Dad from the stall at school, this year is special because they are lucky enough to have an almost Stepdad to buy for whom they love and adore also and have asked me if it's okay they get him a present too which is so lovely.
I made the army hat and this Grey scarf to donate to the stall.

Miss S blanket

I thought it would be nice to make a really big blanket for Miss S bed. It's gong to take sooooo long though.
I decided on the  Granny stripe blanket and I LOVE it. Miss S picked the colours, pink of course! Now Miss E wants the same one too!

It's a great blanket to just sit and veg with, no thinking just trebling along!
It work's up very fast so hopefully sometime soon it will be all done :)

Tough hat!

Originally started making this hat for my lovely man. But he has the tiniest head! he Say's it's lack of hair ;)
This is my best tough face, scary hey!

Crochet - tiny projects

During my regular day with little Miss S I can't really do much of anything too big of a project. Miss S wants me to play make believe games, something I really truly suck at BIG time. I beg and plead with her to play colouring in, playdough or build blocks, brush dolls hair. She likes all those things yes, and so do I! But make believe, mums and dads, moshie monsters, doggie game, are by far her favourites.
So I have decided I'm gong to try and do mini crochet projects on our days together so I can still have something for me, something challenging and fun and creative whilst still being there for whatever Miss S needs me for.
Today I made a crochet love heart and also a radiant flower. They took about 10 mins each in total and I attached one to a head band.

I'm thinking of pairing them up with a matching tutu I make and selling a few. The girls will benefit from all these pretty's anyways!

The veggie patch

I love planting veggies, we're not always successful but watching the plants grow and change and waiting for that first taste of scrummy yummy freshness is just the best.
The patch is out the front, there is just not enough sun in our backyard with a HUGE liquid amber shading it for the better part of the day in Spring, Summer and most of Autumn. Also my lovely black lab Poppi cannot help but bounce all over the garden and tends to squish things very easily!
Today the kids helped me plant some seeds. We have butternut pumpkin, telephone peas and cherry tomatoes. The tomatoes will grow from the pots up a trellis in the backyard, the pumpkin........actually I have no idea where I will put this wandering curly wurly vine but I know I'll find somewhere!

We already have Garlic, Pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, spring onion, cabbage, rhubarb (that's not going very well but not dead) baby spinach and normal spinach and various herbs (the parsley is going mental!).
A few Pansy's here and there to attract the bee's and hmmmm I think that's it. I planted carrot too but it withered. I have no idea why, but I really cannot grow carrot, I have tried so many times from seed and seedling but the most I have every gotten is nice little leafy trees!
I'd really like a bigger patch, but really, with the kidiliwinks and all my lovely pets, this is probably as much as I have time for right now.

Chook run and bunny fun

Our chook run is ready! Now we just have to wait for all the girls to be old enough to go in.
The girls finally all have names - we have -

Monkey Mania

I ordered a super cute pattern from crazysockscrochet it took me all day yesterday and an hour today adding the finishing touches, but I think the next one will go much faster now I know what I'm doing. How cool would a family of monkey hats look on us all lol. I used the Nora yarn for the hat and still have half a ball left.
I'm thinking of selling a few things on eBay and Etsy, not really to make money but more to just bring it a bit of extra $ for me to spend on more yarn, patterns etc.

A while back I made this cowl for my sister in law Alison, she hasn't seen it yet so perhaps if she reads this she will find out what her 'prize' is? It's made with super chunky yarn and is really soft, I think it will take a few wears for it to become floppy and lush feeling.
Here's the link to the pattern if you'd like to try it yourself.

Coaster creativeness

Coasters
I was looking for a quick and easy gift I could make up in an evening for a friend I am seeing today.
I bought this delicious Noro yarn ( colour no.10 )on Thursday. Its 40% cotton, 30% silk 15% wool and 15% Nylon, the colours are so lovely, all mermaidy and dreamy, I loved watching a new colour come into play as I hooked away in rounds. I'm also going to use this yarn for the top part of a monkey party hat patter I bought, hopefully I'll get to that later today!

Wrapped for gift

Our chooks have arrived! And some of their sisters are staying for the week!
The lady who breeds the chooks has gone away for the week so asked if I would watch them all. We Will choose four at the end of the week, then the rest will go home :(
They are too sweet, eating and drinking together, cuddling up in the corner, I wish we could keep them all! They are already very friendly, it will be nice to have them form so young so they get used to the kids handling them and become accustomed to being loved too infinity!
Tilli loves the chicks, she hasn't tried to eat them just licks them constantly. I think we'll keep Poppi away from them for awhile yet though!!!!
Kids are home at 4pm tomorrow, are they in for a surprise or what!

I made a hat!

I seem to have the knack for this crochet business and so long as I can read the pattern things are turning out just scrumptiously!
I made this hat in about an hour yesterday for a friends little girls birthday. Miss E is going to the party tomorrow night :)
I used this pattern from Retromummy its so super simple to follow and quick to make.

Frugal baby shower present!

I made this for my beautiful sister who is due with her first child in Sept.

I bought a fleece blanket from woolies, it already has a blanket stitch edge. And edged it with a shell type edging. It took about an hour and made a boring present much more personal I think.

Crochet tomorrow, today, EVERYDAY YAY!!!!

Ahhhhh, my new found love of crochet!
I really am loving this new creative outlet I have found. It challenges me and really fulfills a creative need in me that's been lying dormant for many years now.
I've been a SAHM for 9 years now and I've loved it all, but this past few years has been a struggle, for many reasons really.........
So I started with a Granny blanket, I really love my first granny blanket, its a bit mismatched in stitch sizes, I come back to it between new projects and kiddie caring so its taken awhile.
Miss E loves it and its nearly big enough to go on her bed to keep her cosy and warm in winter. Who knows, hopefully it will last long enough for her to give to her daughter?
You can learn to Crochet so many ways, I attended two classes and the rest I taught myself from books like
this, different magazines and also you tube learn to crochet links.

It's really super easy, pattern reading took me a while and I'm still learning it's all new too me, but such fun!
Right, back to my Granny blanket, it's made from 100% wool (pink) and a lovely soft acrylic (green and white). I have a bit more pink and then an edge to do and it's complete!
I so love the colours together don't you?

On an outing we shall go

School holidays over................did you hear me? OVER. Yeah, you mum's out there know what I mean ;) Fortunately the kiddliwinks have been pretty good, sure they've had the odd tiff and sometimes have gotten themselves into mischief (ie.playdoh rubbed into clothes and carpet!!!) but overall I've managed to keep them fairly entertained.

We managed to get out and do a fair few things these holidays, my most favourite day was a trip out to Wisemans ferry, we had a lovely pub lunch and took the kids on a trip across the car ferry. But before we got there we went to Ford farm for some Mandarin picking.

We must have eaten 15 satsumas a piece, then we brought a bucketful home and made Mandarin Jam YUM!
